PacificAg gives back to Canterbury
Following the catastrophic earthquake in Christchurch on Tuesday 22nd February, thousands were left without homes and resources in New Zealand’s second biggest city. After viewing the reports on television and in the newspapers, PacificAg CEO Jung Wen Chiang could no longer sit idly by. He was particularly moved by the stories regarding the Student volunteer army who mobilised into the neighbourhoods of Christchurch and did whatever that needed to be done. Research on the internet left few options for an Auckland based citizen to donate goods instead of the usual charity online donations. With the city strapped for food and goods, its locals having to venture outfield into neighbouring towns to pick up essentials like bread and milk, Jung desperately wanted his aid to go directly where it would help most right now. Fortunately, Resene Colour shops around the country had the same thought and were taking up canned food donations in conjunction with the Salvation army.

Next came a trip to the local Pak’n’save where an ample supply of canned baked beans, chopped chicken, fish etc were loaded in the car and dropped off at Resene Colour shop in Albany by South Island manager Chris Gallagher.

“It was the least I could do,” said Jung. “There are so many people in need and this is only the first of many ways PacificAg will try to help.” The trucks pick up regularly from the colour shops and the next shipment is due to go into Christchurch this week. To find your closest Resene colour shop and make a much needed canned food donation, go to www.resene.co.nz/chch.htm or ring your local Resene store.
